Mexican passport holders need a UK Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) to enter the United Kingdom for tourism, business meetings, or short visits. The cost is £16 per person, the ETA is valid for 2 years, and it allows stays of up to 6 months per visit.
Who needs a UK ETA from Mexico
All Mexican citizens — including children and infants — need their own ETA. The ETA covers short visits only. If you're planning to work in the UK, you'll need a sponsored work visa instead; for study longer than 6 months, you need a Student visa.
Applying from Mexico
Applications are submitted online through the UK Home Office website or the official UK ETA mobile app. You'll need a valid Mexican passport, a credit or debit card to pay the £16 fee, and a digital photo of yourself.
Processing time and timing
Most ETAs are approved within minutes, but some are flagged for further checks. The UK government recommends applying at least 3 working days before travel. Don't book non-refundable flights based on assumed approval until your ETA is in hand.
